She's here!

Stella Madison David arrived Friday, October 24, 2008 at 4:45 a.m. We arrived at the hospital on Thursday at 10 a.m. and by noon they had started the induction process. I started hard labor at 8 p.m. and received the epi at 11 p.m. I was able to get some sleep as contractions continued. At 4:00 a.m. the nurse asked me to do some practice pushes to help bring the baby down. She saw the baby crown and was about to call for the doctor but one more push brought Stella out. There was a moment of confusion on my end as I didn't realize the baby had come and the nurse had Richard help while other nurses were called in the room.

Stella weighed 6 lbs 8 oz and measured about 19 inches long. She has a strong set of lungs and lets us know when she wants something but is adorable and tiny.

We are so thankful that God gave us this gift and are enjoying every day with her.

I think we're ready!

Today I finished up final preparations in the nursery. We have a couple of things left on my list to buy and to do but I'm feeling good about it.

Organization!

Well, the nursery used to be straight and clean. Now after trying to organize everything we have recently received and bought, it is messy once more. I'm really hoping to get the nesting bug again this weekend so I can sort and figure out where everything goes. Mainly I need places to put things. I guess what I need to think of - is where do things go around the house since I know the baby is not confined to just her room. I've been in the mind frame that everything goes into that one room, but I know feeding stuff will go to the kitchen. Towels and washcloths can go with ours in the linen closet. The stroller??? The bathtub??? Hmmm.... this is where my mom will be a major help once she gets here Tuesday.

Oh and by the way.... the diapers, they are sooooooo small! I don't think it quite has hit me how small she will be, even though I know she can't be any bigger than my tummy (which seems to grow every night).

I can't wait to meet our little one. And she is almost here. I would love to have her on my Dad's birthday but it still may be a little too soon. We'll know on Tuesday!

My work had a wonderful baby shower for us today. I am so thankful and appreciative to everyone. I have included some pictures below but click on the link at the bottom for more pictures!

Full Term!

We are now full term so whenever Stella wants to arrive, we'll be ready.

Here is an updated picture of Richard and myself. I didn't quite realize how HUGE I've gotten in the past couple weeks! We were so excited to be enjoying temperatures in the 80's that we had to get out!

Ultrasound Today

Richard and I went to have our ultrasound today and things went well. We saw the baby's face and she lifted her hand up. Her heartbeat was strong and she is in position, head facing down. We think she is at five pounds and the tech said she was a little small but not too small. I know I definitely have gained weight in the past couple weeks but I think it is stabilizing although I am hungry a lot (and not for very healthy food - I enjoy a Taco Bell Volcano Taco).

We are at about 36 weeks. Stella will be considered full-term at 37 weeks but we're planning for her to hold off until after Mama arrives on the 21st. There is the possibility she might not come until after the 1st of November but I am hoping that by Halloween we'll have our little pumpkin!

One Month To Go

Wow - it is finally here. The one month to go mark. I'm excited yet anxious. I'm tired and emotional but have spurts of energy where I want to go and do so much. I'm looking forward to my mom coming and spending the time with me. I'm loving my husband. There is just so much going on knowing that in one month life for me and Richard will be totally changed.

We are still trying to figure out some things about the nursery but at least we feel we are at a point that we are happy with. Our only big purchase that I feel needs to be made pretty soon is the Play yard with bassinet and changer. Unfortunately the one I want I waited too long to get and is no longer available. Everything else is just the small stuff.

We are planning to get the car ready this weekend with my bag and emergency stuff if my water breaks while in public (we don't want it to leak on the car, ewwww). We need to install the car seat and I need to get a couple of thing for the going home bag.
